Description
In this highly visible role, you will handle selection, implementation & optimization of manufacturing process for mechanical enclosure subassemblies for our legendary products!You will have direct frequent communication and collaboration with Apple Industrial Design, Product Design, Manufacturing Design and worldwide suppliers. You will utilize your manufacturing background in the following areas:PROCESS DEVELOPMENT:- Utilize Mechanical Engineering experience and work cross functionally with Product Design Engineering and Industrial Design- Assess mechanical designs and relate design goals to process, equipment, and material requirements to evaluate a set of options to tackle difficult manufacturing problems.- Develop new manufacturing processes to enable future product design and conducting DOEs to validate process capability.- Plan validation exercises to demonstrate process feasibility and capability- Plan, propose, and lead experiments to produce analyses used to drive design, development, and supply chain decisions- Establish validation procedures to determine acceptance of processes into development builds as well as mass productionSUPPLIER EXECUTION:- Review supplier tool design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals- Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance.Apple benefits programs vary by country and are subject to eligibility requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in below areas:
  • Supporting new product launches from manufacturing engineering
  • Or product development perspective
  • Or specific engineering manufacturing process
  • Education: MSME/BSME or equivalent
  • Fluent English communication required. Chinese is considered as a plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with fabricating parts or jigs, fixtures, cutters, tooling, injection molding, casting, plastics, laser, adhesives, automation, machine shop (CNC, mills, lathes)
  • Proven understanding of DOE, GD&T, SPC and mechanical fabrication techniques
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Collaborative and able to fit in well with a team, understand capabilities and priorities while fostering a team environment
  • Frequent China domestic, India & Vietnam travel required
  • Engineering management or program management background is considered a plus
  • Project management experience and a deep understanding of problem solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical process control principles preferred
  • NX, SolidWorks or other CAD software experience
  • Vendor/factory management experience
