Key job responsibilities
• Document and assemble opto-mechanical, opto-electrical, electro-mechanical satellite assemblies, sub-assemblies, and integration of subsystems and final space vehicle including fabrication and/or materials processing into complex manufactured products
• Manage R&D development lab spaces, order/stock consumables, track assets.
• Responsible for lab equipment requirements, preventative maintenance, calibration, and improvements including but not limited to test equipment, tooling, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, etc.
• Responsible for lab operations, maintenance, and safety. Including lab inventory maintenance
• Experience working with and driving safety for FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and cleanroom requirements
• Responsible for executing and improving on assembly, build, integration, and test procedures for assembly, subsystem, and system level products.
• Receive shipments and coordinate receiving and delivery logistics including but not limited to using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other critical lift operations utilizing gantry and/or bridge cranes
• Responsible for the identification, development, and documentation of critical process mechanisms to improve lab safety operations, manufacturing efficiencies, and build quality.

Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) Engineering is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. These solutions are tailored to meet the needs of government and international customers for both space-based and terrestrial applications. The Integrated Engineering Solutions organization under KGS Engineering plays a vital role in the entire life cycle of the development of an engineering solution, including architecture development, requirements and interface definition through assembly, integration, and test (AI&T). verification, and post-delivery and operational support.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in Electronics, Mechanics, Product Design, Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Science, or other STEM discipline
• 3+ years relevant high traceability manufacturing experience (Aerospace / Medical, etc.)
• 3+ years of hands-on work experience electro-mechanical, opto-electrical, opto-mechanical assembly, final integration and harness integration experience
• 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced production environment with Flight Hardware
• 3+ years of hand on experience with precision torque, measurement and inspection devices (i.e., automated and manual torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multi-meters, torque wrenches)
• 3+ years of experience in board level design verification and test for aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics products; OR 3+ years of experience building complex test systems
• 3+ years of experience developing electronics assembly, manufacturing, and test procedures for electrical product design verification and validation
• 3+ years of experience in the use of standard electronic lab test equipment (i.e. network analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, multimeters, etc.)
• 3+ years of operating heaving machinery, leading critical lift campaigns, operating thermal/thermal vaccum chambers, and operating vibration/dynamic motion systems.
• Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
• Able to lift-up to 25-lbs. unassisted


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, aerospace, or similar field
• High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive; resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction
• Excellent oral and written communication and leadership skills with strong sense of ownership and drive
• Ability to coordinate between engineering, test lab, and technicians (if applicable) and schedule manufacturing and test resources
• Experience as the technical lead, leading small groups of others across multiple designs
• Experience in test plan development related to established space hardware test standards (GEVS/SMC-S-016) or military standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
• Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills
• Solid understanding of engineering test fundamentals
• Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
• Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) certification/license
• Able to read, interpret, and work from engineering documentation and/or drawings
• Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware, and clean room requirements
• Ability to lead effectively in a team environment and ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
• Previous military service a plus
• Broad knowledge and experience in multiple disciplines related to satellite or space systems, including design, integration, test, operation, maintenance, and configuration/data management
• Experience supporting system engineering of space and/or ground systems development efforts including meeting cost, schedule, and performance goals.
• Demonstrated experience working with government agencies
