The opportunity
- Our Commodity Markets team at EY focuses on addressing clients' needs in the commodity trading industry, as part of our Strategy and Transactions practice, which covers Strategy, Commercial Due Diligence, Integration/Divestments, and Value Creation. This rapidly growing team specializes in metals, mining, oil trading, and refining, with a strong presence in the region.
- You will work alongside experienced commodity markets and consulting professionals, developing skills to identify opportunities and excel in various consulting scenarios and commodity sub-sectors. Typically, you will be part of a broadercross-service line team on projects.
- As you advance your career at EY, you will engage in more complex consulting projects, lead teams, build client relationships, and take on broader roles within our consulting and energy market segments.
- As a member of our ASEAN delivery team, you will collaborate closely with the global counterparts, collaborating with fellow specialists and gaining opportunities to work and travel across the ASEAN region.
Your key responsibilities
- Lead and manage consulting projects with a focus on green energy, ensuring highquality deliverables and alignment with client objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of green energy markets, including renewable energy sources like green hydrogen, green Ammonia and bioenergy etc.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated models to forecast market trends, technology advancements, and price movements in green energy sectors
- Monitor policies, regulations, and global trends impacting green energy markets and their integration with traditional commodities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for identified client accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and long-term engagement.
- Guide the team in preparing reports and other client deliverables. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Collaborate across different practice areas within the firm to deliver integrated solutions to clients.
- Support business development efforts, including the preparation and presentation of proposals.
- Mentor and train junior team members, providing guidance on technical and professional growth.
- Oversee the assessment and management of risks associated with client engagements, including trading, financial, and operational risks.
Skills And Attributes for Success
- Expertise in commercial aspects of commodity trading and related aspects (including
- Risks, Controls, Operating Model Set Up, Strategy and Operations).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in modeling and forecasting green energy market trends.
- Familiarity with green energy technologies, trading platforms, and market data sources.
- Ability to develop excellent client relationships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced professional services environment and cope with undefined situations.
- Strong project management skills and commitment to the delivery good quality work.
- Prior experience of:
- Commodity Trading and Commercial
- Commodity Risk management- Exposure assessment, measurement, and management
- Commodity Desk and Market Risk Reviews.
- Trade Surveillance related advisory.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Qualified CAs / CFA, FRM or MBA- Finance, or other equivalent qualifications
- (Accounting & Finance, Commodities, Engineering, etc.)
- Expertise in Trading and related aspects (including Risks, Controls, Operating Model Set
- Up and Systems selection and implementation, Strategy and Operations).
- Microsoft excel proficiency with experience in financial modelling, Scenario analysis,
- Stress testing, VaR computations etc. using excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint proficiency – experience in delivering project reports and
- proposals using PowerPoint
- An ability to confidently speak across one or more commodity sub-segments (energy, agriculture, base metals, precious metals, bulks, renewables/carbon, etc.)
- Minimum of 12-15 years (for AD) and 8-12 years (for Manager) of experience in commodities markets or related fields, with significant expertise in green energy sectors and sustainable technologies.
- Work experience in strategy, operations, or large-scale transformation.
- Excellent industry network
- Travel to client locations across ASEAN and global markets as necessary

- Experience in front- (Trading, Sales, Marketing, Structuring, etc.), middle- (Risk, Product

- Highly motivated individuals with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry.
