Essential Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recommend best practices for social impact initiatives.
  • Lead functional projects and programs related to social impact.
  • Conduct analysis to understand business trends and their implications for social impact.
  • Participate in advocacy efforts to influence policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with social impact strategies.
  • Provide guidance on ESG compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Facilitate PayPal’s Environmental Working Group (EWG), including coordinating monthly EWG meetings, driving key EWG initiatives, and cultivating relationships with functional area members and leaders.
  • Measure and manage climate mitigation outcomes toward the company’s net-zero by 2040 goal in close collaboration with functional area leaders. Support the establishment of new environmental impact objectives. Mobilize companywide emissions reduction initiatives in alignment with PayPal’s greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets.
  • Coordinate the assessment and management of environmental and climate-related risks and opportunities in alignment with enterprise risk management program and relevant regulatory requirements and voluntary frameworks.
  • Prepare and maintain environmental sustainability strategy and annual workplan, execute workplan objectives, and report performance results.
  • In partnership with Finance colleagues and Social Impact and Sustainability teammates, coordinate PayPal’s annual environmental reporting process, including data collection and analysis, metrics calculation, quality control procedures, assurance, and reporting. Contribute to preparation of PayPal’s annual Global Impact Report, survey and due diligence requests, and preparation ofenvironmental-relatedcorporate disclosures.
  • Support development and enhancement of PayPal’s corporate sustainability data platform.
  • Manage budgets, vendors, and contracts to ensure execution of EMS strategic objectives.
  • Manage policy and procedure reviews and reapprovals, change management, training, and communication, in alignment with PayPal’s Environmental Risk Management Policy. Evaluate adherence to policy and procedures and provide recommendations for process improvement.
  • Engage PayPal’s stakeholders, such as employees, vendors, customers, investors, governments, and corporate peers, to understand interests and communicate PayPal’s environmental sustainability progress and plans.
  • Contribute to employee sustainability activation and engagement, in coordination with Communications and Social Impact and Sustainability colleagues. Assess outcomes toward the advancement of PayPal’s culture of environmental sustainability.
  • Support Social Impact & Sustainability Team priorities and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in environmental management, corporate sustainability, ESG, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating, influencing, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Robust understanding of GHG emissions, energy and renewable energy, water, office consumable and electronic waste in a corporate operations and value chain context.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the landscape and trends in corporate environmental reporting frameworks, standards, and regulations, such as GHG Protocol, SBTi, EU CSRD (ESRS), ISSB, TCFD, and CDP.
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a self-directed and autonomous manner.
  • Experience working in a global and cross-cultural context preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including working with large, complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with ability to focus on detail while calibrating communication appropriately for non-technical audiences, including executive leaders.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $94,000 to $156,200
