As a Millwright Mechanic, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Sets up, operates, and reads precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specification of accuracy. Precision testing and measuring instruments include devices such as scales, dial indicators, micrometers, hole gauges, telescope gauges, tramming rules, optical alignment transits, and similar instruments.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments based on that diagnosis by using repair parts, by correcting existing parts, or by innovation to select substitute parts.
- Moves material, equipment, and machinery using standard methods of lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, skidding, and rolling.
- Installs equipment and machinery according to layout plans, prints, or drawings using standard methods of leveling, tramming, and precision alignment of internal and external machine components such as shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, rolls, and couplings. Assembles, fits, and aligns machinery and equipment using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, tramming equipment, and machine tools.
- Completes required shop paperwork and uses reporting system following established procedures. This includes Daily Work Records, P.M. Route Sheets, Stock Withdrawal Forms, and other forms and records that may be required in the performance of the job or operation of the department.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the followingqualifications:
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed prior to start)
- Five years' work experience as a Millwright Mechanic OR a minimum combined total of five years formal apprenticeship type training program and work experience in the Millwright Mechanic Craft Skill area.
- Ability to pass the pre-employment Skilled Trades Test Battery.
- Possess a current and valid Driver’s License.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Preference will be given to applicants trained and experienced in the installation and alignment and/or troubleshooting and repair of heavy production machinery.
- Trained and experienced in the disassembly, assembly, rigging, moving, installation, setting, alignment, adjustment, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment, mechanical power transmission systems, and production machinery using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and hoists, slings, dollies, and precision tramming, alignment, measuring, and testing instruments.
Pay & Benefits:
- The starting rate of pay for this position is $45.07/hr.
