Key job responsibilities
- Design robust, high-quality, well-tested electrical equipment to interface with robots, control sensors, actuators, and other hardware.- Cabling design, fabrication, documentation, and quality control ownership to aid integration of new motors and sensors.
- Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, drawings, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports.
- Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements. Capture requirements and turn them into well-defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment.
- Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
- BS in Electrical Engineering (or similar field)
- Experience working with custom industrial motor drive electronics with Ethernet or EtherCAT based fieldbus communications.
- Experience with control cabinet design, VFDs, safety gateways and input and output devices.
- Experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment.
- Experience with Python or C. Ability to leverage programming skills to rapidly transition to new languages and unfamiliar platforms. Background on PC, PLC, and embedded MCU programming environments.
- Experience building with quick prototype platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
- MS / PhD in Electrical Engineering (or similar field)
- Experience with mechatronic product development, including hardware/software integration and real-time systems
- Experience with robotics and/or factory automation
- Experience with circuit simulations (PSpice, HyperLynx, ElmerFEM, etc... )
- Experience with system models to an industry safety standard
