As a Walmart Distinguished Engineer, you will spearhead the development of the next generation of payroll systems for over 2 million associates. In this role, you will have the opportunity to set the technical direction for a team that integrates with 50+ systems to ensure seamless, accurate, and timely payments for all associates, while eliminating defects and manual touch points. What you'll do:
- Set the technical direction for multiple teams and systems, and disambiguate large complex problems at Walmart scale to enable the team to deliver.
- Collaborate with engineering and business leadership to align technology and business priorities.
- Establish and own both business as well as well operational excellence goals, and help define the path to goal achievement.
- Invest in creating engineering leaders and set up culture of engineering excellence for multiple teams.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership across Walmart Global Tech to influence global best practices and be a spokesperson for the org.
What you'll bring:
- At least 10+ years of relevant industry experience in designing, implementing and launching highly available at-scale simple systems to solve large and ambiguous problems.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with engineering and business leadership, and set technical direction for multiple engineering teams.
- Effective problem solving and simplification skills, ability to make design tradeoffs, balancing the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.
- Expertise in service-oriented architecture and cloud-native solutions.
- Expertise with Relational and/or NoSQL Database.
- Experience with CI/CD and operational excellence best practices.
- Mentoring/coaching engineering leadership.

The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: - Stock
