Our services include feasibility studies, long-range planning studies, and the full spectrum of design services from conceptualization through construction support. Project delivery strategies include design/bid/build, design/build, and Integrated Project Delivery, and are often highly collaborative with the client, general contractor, and trade partners. Fast-tracked delivery is standard procedure in today's environment where time to market is critical. We do difficult work for demanding clients, and they come back to us again and again because they know we're the firm who can deliver. This is a subordinate position. You will be accountable engineering and analysis. Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule for assigned tasks - Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly - Provide on-site assistance during startup - Provide guidance to a draftsperson - Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead - Size power distribution systems including transformers, substations, switchgear, generators & ATS, distribution and branch panels - Produce installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power plans under minimal supervision - Edit client or Jacobs specifications for project
Preferably Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineer with 15 years relevant experience in Switchyard/HV. Overall Expectations: - Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate - Establish a professional and, if possible, a personal relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact - Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these - Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hour or cost budgets - Produce flawless work with minimum rework - Look for ways to reduce project cost and schedule and for ways to improve our work processes - Be positive and respectful in everything you say about the client or Jacobs or their personnel - Contribute on your own time to the betterment of the organization through activities such as improving work processes ormethods, etc. Technical Competencies: - Knowledge and application of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC) - Knowledge and application of other relevant codes and standards such as the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), etc. - knowledgeable in power distribution up to 600V - knowledgeable in lighting and grounding design - Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards - Familiarity with Article 500, Hazardous (Classified) Locations, in the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC) - Able to perform zonal cavity and point-to-point lighting level calculations - Able to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications - Able to perform voltage drop calculations - Able to route conduit and cable tray - Able to calculate trayfill - Able to determine facility & motor control center loading - Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment - Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings - Able to determine load center unit substation loading - Able to develop equipment specifications for 480VAC equipment such as substations, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, induction and synchronous motors, load center unit substations, etc. - Knowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow between disciplines - Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables - Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks - Able to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a effort hour budget for a small project or an area for a large project - Able to determine construction material quantities Skills: - Proficient in Revit and 2D AutoCAD or Microstation - Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and Access - Proficient in power modeling software (EasyPower, SKM, ETAP, AGI32, Excel) - Familiarity with a third-party lighting design software package - Good listening, writing and communication skills - Good presentation skills Jacobs.
