Your Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a polyglot developer with either strong C/C++ and/or Rust skills to work on tracing and profiling agents for various runtimes. Knowledge about the runtime APIs of Java, PHP or .NET is an asset, as is knowledge about the extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) and Linux kernel.
A history of working with GitHub and Open-Source projects will help spearhead our involvement in OpenTelemetry and eBPF. You will be expected to gain an understanding of the respective Open-Source communities, their contribution models, communication, governance strategies and tooling. The successful candidate will contribute to the community itself providing added features and fixes that will help enable our success.- Key tasks to your day-to-day work include:
- Direct communication with Product Managers to plan and implement new features
- Direct communication with customers in context of consulting and ticket-work
- Extend the profiler and tracer capabilities by adding support for new libraries
- Refactor existing code and bring in new ideas
- Diagnose performance and find more efficient ways of achieving our goals
- Work with Open-Source projects and their respective communities
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 7+ years experience with C / C++ or Rust
• Good code writing discipline and an eye for code efficiency
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving
• Working with Github and Open-Source
• Experience working with containerized development environment and runtimes (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• profiling and tracing skills (pprof, JProfiler, etc.)
• Understanding of agile methodologies
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
