Development, modification, and control of functional and in-circuit test equipment during pre-production and production phases. Monitors performance of test equipment and works to corrects test equipment or test software problems that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues. Interfaces with Design, Operations, Quality and Process Development organizations with a focus on integrating test processes for new products into the existing manufacturing area.

System Design and Development:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and design electrical test systems that meet quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Develop detailed electrical system architecture, including hardware, software, firmware, and automation components.
  • Utilise CAD tools, simulation software, and other relevant resources to create detailed design specifications.

Prototype Development and Testing:

  • Build and assemble prototypes of electrical test systems for evaluation and validation purposes.
  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of prototype systems to identify potential issues and optimise performance.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to refine and improve system designs based on testing feedback.

Verification and Validation:

  • Develop and implement test plans to verify and validate the functionality, reliability, and accuracy of electrical test systems.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Documentation:

  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design documentation, testing procedures, and user manuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and troubleshooting steps.

Integration and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to seamlessly integrate electrical test systems into pre-production and production manufacturing lines.
  • Ensure smooth transition of systems from development to production, considering scalability and maintainability.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation in electrical test systems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance system design and development methodologies.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to align goals and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc in Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a regulated Electronic Industry in a Test Engineering / Programming role in both Hardware and Software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach to system development and testing.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Eagerness to learn, innovate, and contribute to the growth of the organisation.
  • LabVIEW programming knowledge a distinct advantage.
  • Python, Java, C/C++ programming knowledge an advantage.
  • PCB design experience in OrCAD or Altium and advantage.
  • Knowledge of hardware development, including PCB design, microcontrollers, and interfacing with sensors and actuators an advantage.
