Senior Quality Engineer


As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Supporting solutions of optical films, adhesives, materials, and other novel combinations in Display Materials and Systems Division
  • Identify and scope continual improvement projects using statistical analysis; Lead those projects to improve yield and quality, reduce cost and Defective Parts per Million (DPPM)
  • Leading and supporting Change Managed (CMP) projects through appropriate risk analysis (FMEA) and addressing key risks; Execute product qualification planning, testing, and analysis.
  • Developing test methods: documentation, training, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), round robins
  • Developing visual reference standards, visual test methods, and align visual detection systems.
  • Managing complaints in 3M Customer Issue Resolution (CIR/CFR) system(s) within product responsibility area
  • Work with the global cross-functional team: Manufacturing (Plant and Division), Laboratory (Application and Development), Business and Sales
  • Executing New Product Introduction (NPI) projects through robust product design including product testing, data analysis and reporting
  • Responding to customers as needed (product development and customer specifications, complaints and CAPA, key account management including customer agreements, data analysis, etc.)


To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (
at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED & Minimum of seven (7) years of combined experience working or interning in a Quality Engineering, Product Engineering and/or Manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited institution & Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience working or interning in a Quality Engineering, Product Engineering and/or Manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry,Mathematics/Statisticsor related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Engineering, Product Engineering and/or Manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Experience in Manufacturing
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and/or projects
  • Lean Six Sigma training with proven ability to understand and apply Lean Six Sigma and other quality tools to product, systems and process problems
  • Working knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards
  • Test method development experience
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Established decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to apply innovative solutions to problems

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Saint Paul , MN at least 3 days per week)
