Microsoft Research Intern - Industry & ML/AI Food

The RFI team currently has an opening on agriculture and food and is looking for a motivated research intern to conduct research on a topic, including:

• Large language models
• Generative AI for multi-modal applications
• Computer Vision algorithms
• Satellite Imagery and Geospatial analytics
• Systems, e.g. Edge, IoT, cloud services
• Reinforcement Learning
• Graph and Network based Optimization

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

Other Requirements

• Research Interns are expected to be physically located in their manager’s Microsoft worksite location for the duration of their internship.
• In addition to the qualifications above, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position. After you submit your application, a request for letters may be sent to your list of references on your behalf. Note that reference letters cannot be requested until after you have submitted your application, and furthermore, that they might not be automatically requested for all candidates. You may wish to alert your letter writers in advance, so they will be ready to submit your letter.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more of:

• Publication record in top-tier peer reviewed conferences
• Experience with generative AI, large language models, and using it for an application, e.g. in an industry vertical
• Demonstrated ability to develop original research ideas
• Hands on experience with AI/Optimization/Reinforcement Learning/Systems/Game Theory
• Coding experience

Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $6,290 - $12,170 per month. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Franscisco Bay areaRequired Qualifications
