Your key responsibilities

EY is looking for a Manager/Senior within the Finance and Data team in our Malaysia office to help manage and operate its proprietary e-invoicing solution GTES, which looks to reimagine how our clients can manage their local e-invoicing obligations as required by the Income Tax Act 1967.

As part of our new e-invoicing and digital tax business, you will work with our leadership to implement GTES for our clients. As a Manager/Senior within the Finance and Data team, you will be responsible for delivering on the operational aspects of the solution, including compliance with the guidelines/revised guidelines issued by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (“IRBM”) from time to time in relation to e-Invoicing.

You will also oversee and coordinate operational activities including identification and rectification of errors in erroneous client data for e-invoicing purposes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Your role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities related to advisory and operational services, technologyintegration and compliance management in the field of e-invoicing tax compliances.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients, identify tax areas of impact by understanding business process and financial systems, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and leverage technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work under the direction of the leadership, to drive and deliver all aspects of GTES implementation and operational management.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to develop and implement GTES specific operational policies and procedures while ensuring they are aligned with the organization's objectives and meet the needs of the solution.
  • Provide support to clients on implementation of e-invoicing projects, assist them in project deployment, manage e-invoice compliance matters using EY Tools and Analytics, and identify transition and operational issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients while managing expectations effectively and delivering top-notch service.
  • Work collaboratively with our engagement teams to define operational requirements and ensure alignment with the overall product strategy.
  • Your responsibilities will also include but not limited to:
    • Maintain GTES compliance with internal processes and controls such as Tax Quality, Independence, Tax Technology Approvals Roadmap etc.
    • Manage business side deliverables to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
    • Produce regular reports on business side performance and/or metrics for reporting to key stakeholders and committees.
    • Support with project management of operational and business tasks for the GTES leadership
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure smooth operations.

You will be a member of a critical team who:

  • Provide Finance & Tax Support- ensuring that the processes are working correctly as deployed.
  • Supporting Incident & Problem Management– analysis, investigation, diagnosis, and problem solving to identify, troubleshoot and resolve finance and tax related issues.
  • Service Level Management– support the leadership in delivering GTES services within KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field / ACCA affiliate
  • Completed the designated number of any professional accounting papers i.e. ACCA, CPA, MICPA, ICAEW
  • Minimum of three to six years of work experience in a professional services environment or a Multinational (MNC) Company
  • Experience in managing Finance transformation projects.
  • Experience with ERP implementation projects or working closely with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft D365 or other ERPs)
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Experience of working on cross-functional projects, with multiple clients and/or internal stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and communication skills with the ability to articulate and engage with Tax, Finance and IT stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate should have excellent management and leadership skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Familiarity or exposure to Agile methodology would be advantageous, but not essential.
