About the Role:

Provide support with tasks related to the Microbiology department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and conduct Environmental Monitoring tests in Controlled Environment Rooms and accurately record data, draft and review reports, and communicate results precisely, promptly, and timely.
  • Coordinate and conduct product tests such as bioburden and endotoxins, accurately record data, draft and review reports, and communicate results precisely, promptly, and timely.
  • Competently use Microbiology laboratory equipment such as particle counters, incubators, and air samplers.
  • Support process and laboratory equipment qualification activities , design test methods, perform intermediate-advanced statistical analyses, and correctly document and communicate results to teams. Also, define training requirements for these activities and execute the training.
  • Coordinate audit activities and provide support roles during external audits: Document retriever, auditee.
  • Lead failure analysis in Environmental Monitoring and product tests (i.e., significant support in CAPA activities, initiate and assist in the development and completion of NCEPs) and involve required assistance if necessary.
  • Create, maintain, and update data files and forms , databases, spreadsheets, and forms, such as maintaining the laboratory records archive to ensure proper record flow, track and monitor department activities. If necessary, escalate concerns, trends, and emerging issues that need to be addressed.
  • Use documentation systems to investigate information and generate document changes, as well as use scientific knowledge to read and interpret SOPs and Work Instructions to perform laboratory tests according to established laboratory requirements.
  • Coordinate the receipt, acceptance, and disposal of laboratory materials and supplies.
  • Identify, prioritize, and resolve quality issues identified by metrics.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and verify compliance with these tasks for the respective functional unit at the end of the week.
  • Collect, preserve, analyze, and follow up on units/samples. Use good laboratory practices to ensure result accuracy. Seek appropriate help when necessary and create communication channels for required support.
  • Identify and lead departmental initiatives related to best quality practices and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Complete technical degree: Microbiology, Laboratory Technician, or otherwise, 50% of a university degree in related fields such as Biology, Biotechnology, Bioprocesses, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Availability to work Shift A (Monday to Friday 6:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m) at the Cartago plant.
  • 5 years of experience in similar industries.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Aseptic Technique
  • Environmental Monitoring of Controlled Rooms (Viable and Non-viable)
  • Product tests such as endotoxins and bioburden.
  • Creation and analysis of trends in Excel and/or Power BI.
  • Handling laboratory equipment for Environmental Monitoring, incubation, and product tests (Bioburden and endotoxins).
