Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Export Compliance Strategy & Regulatory Management

  • Lead EMEA Export Compliance initiatives and develop strategic frameworks to address regional requirements.
  • Manage UK and EU export licenses, including renewals, usage monitoring, and audit readiness.
  • Manage diversion risk and red flags.
  • Monitor evolving export control regulations and sanctions (e.g., Russia-related controls), identify red flags, and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Support Export Classification and Audit processes, including Technology Transfers and Encryption Controls.
  • Implement and enhance End User / End Use controls, including screening, escalation and resolution.
  • Draft, update, and implement GTC policies, SOPs, desk instructions, and policy-based guidelines.
  • Provide support for daily export compliance escalations across regions and functions.

Risk Assurance, Data & Analytics

  • Lead GTM (Oracle Global Trade Management) analytics, metrics reporting, screening system logic, and GTM audit activities.
  • Develop and execute a robust Reporting and Records Management strategy, including ownership of the OneDrive Trade Recordkeeping repository/system.
  • Support implementation of Trade Compliance AI tools and data automation solutions to improve compliance efficiency and risk mitigation.
  • Support the Export Compliance Risk Assurance Program, including development of KPIs, metrics, and risk dashboards.

Program & Project Management

  • Support the Deemed Export Program, including process oversight and stakeholder training (GTO, HR, procurement).
  • Support the Management of GTC project tracker to ensure timely execution and accountability across initiatives.
  • Support export compliance screening process, including data analysis, risk assessment, and risk mitigation planning.
  • Provide support for the setup and continuous improvement of Oracle GTM functionality.
  • Manage GTM cross-functional compliance initiatives with stakeholders/up-steam systems (Customer Master/Vendors master etc.)
  • Support Export classification, screening and license determination processes.

Training, Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as GTC’s liaison for training and compliance reporting, including tracking onboarding, CAM, and other Ethics & Compliance (E&C) programs.
  • Lead the annual “Know Your Customer” training program and monitor completion metrics.

Operational & Escalation Support

  • Support Envoy Visitor Management program and act as escalation point
  • Oversee Graphite Vendor Review processes and related due diligence.
  • Provide Entity List and sanctions program support, including screening and control implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) required.
  • Minimum 7 years of direct export compliance experience, preferably within the semiconductor or technology industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMEA export controls and sanctions, with direct experience engaging with listed parties.
  • Strong understanding of EU and UK export regulations, including controls related to Russia and Belarus.
  • Proven, hands-on proficiency with Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM) is essential.
  • Solid experience in GTM compliance logic, rules, including metrics reporting, data analysis, and audit preparation.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Model N is a plus.
  • Technologically adept and comfortable working with system s; able to design and implement process-driven and systematic compliance controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop reporting and records management strategies.
  • Experience managing digital repositories such as OneDrive or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience implementing trade compliance AI tools and data automation solutions to enhance compliance effectiveness and risk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. semiconductor manufacturing controls and supercomputing-related export regulations.
  • Experience with export licensing processes, license exceptions, and compliance documentation (e.g., end-use/end-user certificates, assurances).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess trade compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical topics to diverse stakeholders and shift priorities as needed to meet business demands.
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and record retention skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a global, cross-functional, and multi-cultural team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and collaboration tools such as OneDrive and SharePoint.

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
  • You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses under either Western Digital’s Short Term Incentive Plan (“STI Plan”) or the Sales Incentive Plan (“SIP”) which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance, depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
