Sr. Magnet Design Engineer

Your role:

• You will focus primarily on the application of electromagnetic design principles to the development and maintenance of superconducting MRI magnet products and technologies.

• Participate in multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of product development to ensure successful execution of innovative and best-in-class designs.

• Responsible for interpretation and flow-down of system requirements to sub-systems and components.

• Design/analysis of passive magnetic field shim systems for field uniformity in superconducting magnets, quench protection systems, and design/analysis/testing of magnet components including eddy current analysis and calculation of magnetic forces.

• This is a hybrid opportunity located in Latham, NY that requires minimal travel.

You're the right fit if:

• You have a bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering.

• You’ve acquired 5+ years of experience in practical electromagnetic analysis and design experience.

• Your skills include demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving, ability to provide technical leadership in ambiguous situations, demonstrated use of advanced electromagnetic design tools (Opera, ANSYS Maxwell, HFSS, Remcom, CST, etc.), and ability or willingness to learn to write your own software (C++, C#), preferably (also) in a modern scripting language (Python).

• You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this .
