In this role, you will build and enhance our software controllers that optimizes hundreds of terabits of traffic entering or leaving AWS. You will participate in architecture decisions and design reviews, as well as take ownership ensuring our combined platform operates at scale. You will collaborate with both software and network experts, embodying best practices to create best-in-class solutions for our customers worldwide.You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. - Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
- Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility
- Write high quality distributed system software and perform peer code-reviews
- Perform development and maintenance of key system features
- Drive best practices and engineering excellence
- Create and review software design documentation and mentor junior engineers
- Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etcA day in the life

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years relevant experience in software development
- Experience working with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and object-oriented software design in Linux/Unix environments
- Proficiency with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Python, Typescript, Javascript, Rust, Scala, or C++
