Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for definition and execution of satellite power subsystem checkouts and/or tests that determine system health, performance, and functionality. You will provide engineering and technical support on satellite production testing and on-orbit mission activities. You will drive pathfinding test activities, automate repeated processes, and improve test coverage and workflow efficiency. You will work closely with a world-class team of engineers and business leaders to present technical data reviews for verification compliance and create dashboards to visualize test results and satellite health status. This will include:- Development of interface control documentation, requirements specification, and verification matrix for space vehicle power system
- Develop test systems and test plans required to test electrical power subsystem functionality and performance over full life of space vehicle.
- Work with test engineers and system engineers to define, develop and iterate the functional test procedures used by the electrical power, solar, and battery test systems.
- Support execution of vehicle functional testing, including setup, configuration and scripting of vehicle test systems.
- Investigate failures, including issues on the device under test as well as the test system, and drive issues to resolution working with design engineers.
- Understand and implement satellite and battery safety mechanisms and processes.A day in the life
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position. You will be focused on verifying product and system requirements through verification testing across multiple venues including hardware in the loop testing and production acceptance testing. You will develop test processes and tools including automation which will scale test campaigns while holding a high bar for quality and test coverage. You will help manage and perform tests with satellites on-orbit and help to debug and root cause issues found in all test campaigns. You will work with leaders in multiple engineering areas, technical staff, and highly skilled technicians on a daily basis. This is a cross-functional role requiring frequent interaction with multiple hardware and software design teams, production operations, and mission management. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve system performance, and manage non-conformances into actionable items and procedural improvements. We want individuals who are ready for this challenge and want to reach beyond what is possible today.
