Job Summary:

This role is part of an agile, flexible, and dynamic research and development team of engineers and scientists. The team is pioneering the development of solutions which address unmet needs in the medical field ranging from novel drug delivery methods to materials for advanced containment. You will support in developing new technologies to challenge hypotheses utilizing rapid prototyping and fast cycle methodologies. You will focus on supporting the development of core solutions for future generations of product families and prove the key aspects of those solutions through quantitative and qualitative scientific research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the Applied Physical Sciences team supporting scientists and engineers on their projects on developing and integrating solutions for materials, novel drug delivery methods and novel containment
  • Support team members on prototype builds for solutions being developed
  • Draft testing protocols, execute testing methods to evaluate prototype functionality and material performance
  • Analyze and evaluate testing results to make informed and well-reasoned strategic recommendations to the team
  • Perform literature searches on technologies considered for novel containment solutions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Biomedical or Packaging Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Chemistry, or related discipline
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience
  • Good technical ability and firm grasp on engineering fundamentals
  • Self-starter with high curiosity and desire to learn
  • Strong problem solving, business thinking and interpersonal skills
  • A desire to work hands-on in the lab for prototyping building and evaluating purposes
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work both independently and in multidisciplinary groups/teams with a high level of motivation
  • Good organizational along with creativity, flexibility, and initiative
  • Experience the design and implementation of new test methodologies Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical, Biomedical or Packaging Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Chemistry, or related discipline
  • Previous intern and/or co-op experiences in medical devices, material development, and/or pharmaceutical industry
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Basic material characterization knowledge Experience with CAD applications (preferably Solid works)
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing methods including plastic injection molding, machining operations, additive manufacturing (i.e. FDM, SLA, DLP, SLS, MLS), thermoforming
  • Technical writing experience
  • Proficiency in the use of Minitab or similar data analysis application(s)

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 15%
