What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Winter term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver high-quality C code in a real-time embedded environment
  • Specify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems
  • Design the software architecture and firmware implementation on hardware through integration, test, and high-volume manufacturing
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up, system debugging and code optimization
  • Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date between April 2025-December 2026
  • Experience in embedded development in wireless systems, real-time controls, or system software
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Fluent in software fundamentals including software design and maintainability
  • Test driven development and familiarity with developer driven automated testing
  • Experience with embedded microprocessor tools
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Controls software and algorithm development experience, preferred
  • Programming language experience with Python/Rust, preferred
  • Understanding of physics and basic principles, preferred
  • Familiarity with MISRA C, preferred
  • Microcontroller debugging tools (JTAG, Trace, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer), preferred
  • Processor architecture (ex. Arm, PowerPC) and RTOS integration (FreeRTOS), preferred
  • Communication protocols UART, SPI, I2C, etc, preferred
  • Experience with wireless protocols such as BLE, NFC, UWB, UHF, Wifi, 802.11.x, preferred
