As the Clinical Research Scientist - MR, you will be responsible for working daily in close partnership with key clinical partners as well as global and local GE HealthCare colleagues. You will be responsible for locally driving the technical and scientific design and execution of collaborative projects, evaluating early developments and generating evidence on new products while providing insights to the global modality on unaddressed clinical needs and growing trends.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support collaborative academic and clinical partners (e.g. radiologists, physicists, and technologists) as the dedicated onsite scientist for Matai Medical Research Institute. The position is based in New Zealand
  • Support research projects and assist in maturing evidence portfolio (writing summary articles and technical documents)
  • Develop and support research tools (e.g. software, prototypes of MR pulse sequence and reconstruction, off-line analysis) as it relates to collaborative activity
  • Grow technology leadership mindshare through co-authored and lead authored joint scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences
  • Maintain and grow collaborator networks, increase connections between sites, and facilitate multi-site collaborations, especially with developments at Matai Medical Research Institute
  • Closely connect with GEHC clinical and R&D teams, explore unmet clinical and technical needs with external collaborators, identify new needs and build clinical evidence
  • Study new technology concepts and leverage expertise to move forward
  • (Optional) Assist in identifying external grants and supporting grant submissions

Required Qualifications

  • PhD Degree in Physics, Computer Science, Radiological Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technical background
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in MR or Medical Imaging or post processing or closely related field
  • Demonstrated record of innovation and development, publications and/or conference presentations
  • Strong analytical and experimental skills, independent problem solver
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and collaboratively, able to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed and customer focused environment
  • Ability to work including from a home office, hospital, or clinical site, and with ability wo travel
  • A fluent level of English is essential, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with co-workers and leadership

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in a clinical environment working with clinicians/radiologist
  • Experience with academic and/or clinical collaborations
  • Familiarity with GE MR systems and research on those systems
  • Experience in pulse sequence, reconstruction, and post processing developments for MR
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Established project management skills
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and prevailing laws governing research activities with healthcare providers in the region.
