You will be required to understand technology landscapes, and evaluate the use of new technologies. You will be influential within your team and work with peers towards operational excellence across RBS.The application engineer is expected to work on -
1. Operational excellence tasks and activities
2. Stability and reliability programs
3. Incident management and oncall activities
4. Root cause analysis
5. Identifying opportunities to solve problems which will enable better customer experience

- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience in Unix
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Hands-on experience with monitoring systems, dashboards (ELK, Job Schedulers, Batch Operations etc)
- Excellent communication skills, possessing the ability to support customers over email, phone or screen-shares
- Good understanding on database concepts (DynamoDB, RedShift, SQL)

- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
- Experience scripting in one or more language (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby)
- Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON
