As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will own critical UI frameworks and apps that make it possible to develop UI applications for all Alexa devices. You will be challenged to create rich customer applications, while also optimizing for performance. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative customer experiences. You will create new solutions in a responsive, flexible and collaborative peer environment.
Job responsibilities* Define world-class multi-modal experiences with a cross-org team of visual and voice designers
* Make available Alexa's visual design language specification to any and all screen-based devices
* Drive and lead software design, development standards, team processes and code reviews
* Collaborate with UX and Product owners to define the customer experience and product direction
* Optimize software libraries for low latency, CPU and memory footprint
* Deliver high-quality software through working in a dynamic, team-focused Agile/Scrum environment
* Distill and communicate technical concepts to stakeholders
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Passion for inventing new product designs and technical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and articulate technical challenges and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to create advanced architectures and sustainable solutions.
- Experience collaborating with UX, Product, and non-technical partners.
- Familiarity with working in an Agile environment.
- Programming experience preferably in C++.
