PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION

• The Specialist - Trademarks will provide day to day support to members of the Global Trademarks department in various areas of their intellectual property work including prosecution, brand protection (anti-counterfeit actions) and online and offline enforcement for the adidas business.
• As a Specialist - Trademarks you will be required to manage the trademark portfolio of various adidas brands and to assist in trademark matters in various countries. You will be working with Anaqua (our IP Management System), Saegis and online brand protection tools.
• You will be joining a diverse team of 20 colleagues from all over the world, mostly situated in Amsterdam, but also in some foreign countries, who are responsible for all adidas’ IP related matters, except for patent matters. You will work mostly independent but under supervision of the Director Trademark Counsel.
• Accuracy and some knowledge of IP are essential in this role.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting in all aspects of trademark prosecution matters, such as filing of new trademarks, renewals, name changes and trademark conflicts, including but not limited to oppositions, invalidity requests, non-use cancellation actions, etc.
• Monitoring deadlines for all trademark prosecution matters.
• Preparing supporting evidence for trademark filings and oppositions (evidence of use, trademark overviews, etc.).
• Identification of counterfeit and infringing products and instructing external counsels to carry out the appropriate measures in customs cases.
• Filing and renewing customs applications in selected jurisdictions.
• Online monitoring of marketplaces and social media and take down of infringing content.
• Organizing the legalization or the notarization of documents, such as powers of attorney.
• Creation and maintenance of records on IP database.
• Approving invoices to ensure costs allocated to correct category of work for management reporting purposes.
• Review of trademark watch notices and diarizing deadlines.
• Administrative support to members of the Global Trademarks department (including filing documents and assistance with budget and forecast processes).


• Various internal Business Partners including:
o Global Trademarks team
o Designers, Product and Marketing managers within the business
o Legal & Sales teams in assigned countries
• External legal contacts in assigned countries, including key stakeholders (customs, authorities etc.) and legal counsel.


• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Excellent MS office skills (word, excel, outlook and power point)
• Able to prioritise work effectively under pressure
• Excellent organisation skills
• Team player
• Flexible
• Not a must, but experience with Anaqua, Saegis and Legal Tracker will be an added value


• Minimum 2 years working experience as an assistant, or equivalent role in Legal Trademarks environment
