Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide total cell / group leadership in the attainment of goals with respect to safety, quality, cost, production, and compliance.

  • Ensure communication of key business / customer issues to employees

  • Responsible for meeting all established safety, cost, quality, and delivery commitments. Generate effective mechanisms of monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on progress against objectives at all levels.

  • Be responsible for reviewing and maintaining department expense budgets and for explanations for all variances.

  • Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all GE, Government, Customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Pursue state of the art technology and processes to enhance production process and drive cycle improvement.

  • Select, hire, train, develop, and provide ongoing leadership and direction of assigned personnel. Always maintain harmonious relationship with shop floor personnel and champion their issue resolution.

  • Interface with other internal and external stakeholders to assure requirements are met on time.

  • Implement Manufacturing plans that will assure highest possible quality products at the lowest possible cost, delivered in accordance to schedule commitments.

  • Develop necessary business plans to meet all program requirements, including throughput, labor hours, cycle, base, and variable cost.

  • Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in productivity, customer service, quality, inventory, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.

  • 2+ years of experience in shop floor management, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.

  • Skilled in handling union-related matters, fostering positive labour relations and resolving conflicts.

  • Proficient in lean manufacturing methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and KANBAN, to optimize processes and reduce waste.

  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and quality enhancement.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, adept at identifying issues, analysing root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
