The Associate Director of Clinical Programming (CP-TECH) is a pivotal role within our Global Statistical Development (GSD) organization, responsible for overseeing global programming initiatives and driving technical innovation. This highly technical position requires an expert in SAS administration and programming to lead the development and implementation of advanced technical processes that enhance operational efficiencies. Reporting directly to the Head of the CP-TECH team, the Associate Director will act as the business SAS administrator, provide expert guidance on all technical operations, and lead a team of skilled professionals. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage resources effectively while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Travel Requirements: Limited to company annual events and other global events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

6. Compliance & Standards:
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, promoting best practices across the team.
• Train programmers in SOPs, guidelines, and the proper use of the SAS system environment to maintain compliance and quality standards.
7. System Upgrades & Maintenance:
• Involve in SAS upgrade processes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and compatibility with existing systems.
• Responsible for setting up cloud database infrastructure (Azure) for Real-World Evidence (RWE) teams.
• Act as a database administrator (Oracle or SQL Server) when needed to support database-related activities.
8. Technical Expertise:
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into the organization.
• Provide expert advice on systems engineering and technical aspects of clinical programming.
9. Project Management:
• Manage and deliver assignments with high quality and within established timelines.
• Tackle difficult problems, make informed decisions, and troubleshoot in ambiguous situations.
10. Communication & Stakeholder Management:
• Drive communication toward common understanding and actionable results.
• Demonstrate proficient negotiation skills and lead initiatives within the function.
Education Required: HS Diploma
Preferred: Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Science, Statistics, Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Experience Required: • Minimum of 10 years of expert SAS administration experience, working as both a SAS administrator and an expert-level macro programmer.
• Proven proficiency with global-level SAS automation processes and the ability to troubleshoot both server and program-level code effectively.
• Extensive experience in monitoring SAS systems and optimizing performance.
Experience Preferred: • Over 12 years of expert SAS experience, including SAS administration on Windows Server and preferably Linux/Unix platforms.
• Demonstrated expertise in global SAS macro programming automation and creating system-level scripting.
• Experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Azure, and their integration with SAS environments.
• Background in systems engineering and experience setting up cloud database infrastructures for RWE teams.Functional Knowledge: Expert knowledge of SAS Grid administration with 10+ years of experience on Windows platforms.
