Role expectations
  • Manage Align’s internal record collection and discovery processes, including working with internal stakeholders to advise and execute on document collection and maintaining consistent written responses and objections to discovery requests across multiple complex litigation matters
  • ​Assist in the proactive management and supervision of Align’s outside litigation counsel, including staffing, litigation strategy, work product, budgets, and managing spend.
  • ​Work closely with the litigation team to represent Align and its affiliates in commercial claims, government and regulatory investigations, securities claims, and intellectual property assertions.
  • ​Assist in all facets of litigation, including internal investigations, discovery, witness identification and preparation, revising legal briefs, development and execution of case and trial strategy, and negotiating and drafting settlements.
  • ​Respond to subpoenas, demands, CIDs and other letters requesting Align information.
  • ​Manage insurance defense and coverage matters including product defect cases and consumer complaints.
  • ​Prepare and present clear and concise reports regarding the status of each piece of litigation and the associated risks.
  • ​Assist in developing litigation strategies and solutions to achieve business objectives, and to ensure goal alignment across various business teams.
  • ​Investigate and respond to various commercial, employment, insurance coverage, privacy, customer relations and business claims and complaints that could lead to litigation.
  • ​Advise business partners to proactively address and resolve potential disputes while supporting the company’s business objectives.​
What we're looking for
  • ​​4+ years of litigation experience reflecting a strong record of success and accomplishment, with a law firm, in-house law department and/or federal law enforcement or regulatory agency.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) is required.
  • ​Prefer attorney with in-house experience at a company with a mature in-house litigation management program and significant volume of complex litigation.
  • ​Experience litigating in federal court is essential.
  • ​Experience in insurance defense, product liability, subpoena management, commercial disputes preferred.
  • ​Experience in e-discovery including document preservation and collection, e-discovery review protocols, platform, and process, written discovery, and witness preparation.
  • ​Strong legal editing, writing, and analytical skills.
  • ​Organizational and management skills that will assist in the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines to facilitate the effective development and oversight of individual litigation matters.
  • ​Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • ​Strong work ethic with a commitment to ensure that all deadlines are met on time and with a high degree of quality.
  • ​The ability to be persuasive while ensuring a positive customer and/or partner experience.
  • ​A sense of humor and positive attitude.
