The Azure Digital Operationsis building the next generation edge platformtailored to address the unique requirements of messaging, data processing, and connectivity for customers in the manufacturing, industrial, and retail sectors. Our Azure IoT Operations developer experience team is crafting a sophisticated developer framework designed tothe creation of edge applications that are not onlyhighly availableand secure but also flexible and integrated seamlessly with Azure IoT Operations services. This framework supports a wide array of edge messaging scenarios and features declarative interfaces, cross-language support with proficient typing through code generation, minimal boilerplate code, integration with VS Code, and robust built-in security and observability features.

We are currently seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to join this transformative journey and play a crucial role in redefining and advancing the future of Azure IoT Operations. In this position, you will oversee the delivery of developer framework components and client libraries that are user-friendly, robust, maintainable, secure, and observable. You will lead a dedicated team of engineers in developing both the data and control planes, collaborating extensively with other edge and cloud teams across Microsoft. candidate willa solid foundation in Computer Science fundamentals,leadership and technical design capabilities, and have a keen interest in solving complex, ambiguous challenges.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C#, Go or Rust
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ yearsof experience leading an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

• leadsand architects.
• Oversee the design and implementation of a developer frameworkcomponents and client librariesthat support the creation ofhighly availableand scalable first-party and third-party applications and connectors running on Kubernetes,that integrateseamlessly with Azure IoT Operations services.
• Develop and implement comprehensive roadmaps, ensuring alignment with team goals and project milestones.
• Define precise requirements,establishkey performance indicators (KPIs), set priorities, and oversee the planning and execution of engineering tasks.
• Mentor and develop a balanced team, nurturing a range of talents from professionals.
