The position is specifically for Investment accounting and reporting. We’re looking for an incumbent who is competent enough to provide advisory services including Accounting and regulatory support for investments and special matters; accounting processes and controls support; System implementation; IPO and other public offering assistance and transaction accounting and financial reporting assistance. The incumbent will work for top global clients across a wide variety of markets and industry sectors including insurance and banking sector thus experience of working with clients in either the financial services or more specifically Insurance industries is preferred.Americas, EMEIA or APAC


Your key responsibilities

  • Manage quality of service delivery
  • Execute the following FAAS solutions using Global service delivery framework:
    • Financial Accounting and Reporting Excellence
    • Accounting Processes
    • Regulation, Governance and Financing
    • Remediation and readiness
  • Good knowledge of Investment and Derivative products (i.e Fixed Loans, MBS, IRS, CCS, Repo etc)
  • Knowledge Front office and back-office trade of derivative products with end accounting
  • Sector specific knowledge of Insurance, Banking and Assets/wealth Management
  • Hands on different Treasury or Finance tools (i.e. G-Treasury, FIS, SAP Module, Calypso etc.)
  • Participating in the proposal development process for prospective treasury engagements
  • Supporting development of new service offerings and go-to-market strategies
  • Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, informing Supervisors of engagement status
  • Follow through on client requests in a timely fashion, and manage expectations regarding the timing of deliverables and reports
  • Identify engagement and client service issues. Research and benchmark client data to industry data.
  • Explain the client's critical success factors to the engagement team.
  • Benchmark client data to industry data to make possible recommendations for improvements
  • Apply independent and objective professional judgment in applying accounting standards to meet engagement expectations, including regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies (e.g., guidelines of the EY FAAS Policy Manual); and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations
  • Receive direction from the Manager, Senior Manager and Partner
  • Supporting delivery of accounting and regulatory change projects by assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions
  • Supporting engagement mobilisation through scoping, planning, and defining outcomes and creating deliverables as part of a larger project team
  • Preparation of underlying materials as well as leading/participation in client workshops
  • Co-ordinating activities between small teams on projects to deliver tasks, including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members
  • Supporting Financial management of client engagements
  • Undertaking practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership pieces, running industry events, delivering training, or managing team communications
  • Aiding proposals and bid teams in delivery of high-quality proposals
  • Developing strong internal and external networks for long term relationships, managing EY accounts and to bring all EY to clients
  • Driving innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and being a leader in this area by implementing new and improved ways of working, delivery models and / or technological advancements
  • Establishing and managing effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles
  • Contributing to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new / existing clients
  • Contributing to the growth of the practice by providing input to EY Point of views, development of solutions, engagement tools and enablers
  • Contributing to the development of your own and the team's technical skills by establishing a culture of highest performing teams, inclusive behaviours, and emotional intelligence
  • Managing the sharing of knowledge, experience (positive and negative) and lessons learned

Skills and attributes for success

  • Good understanding of IFRS/US/UK GAAP and International auditing standards.
  • Good understanding of Indian accounting and auditing standards.
  • Confident and comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity in a project environment

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
  • Working experience in relation to the following services/solutions:
    • Securities and derivatives accounting
    • Drafting and designing accounting policies
    • Technical accounting research and advice
    • Consolidation and Compilation support
    • Financial statement close process support
    • Transaction accounting and reporting – IPO’s, Carve Outs, PPA etc
    • Remediation and readiness
    • Benchmarking services and market analysis

Professional experience

Typical experience may include, whilst not limited to:

  • Experience of working in a consulting role in banking, insurance, or a transformation role in industry, focusing on the Finance function
  • Advanced skills and experience with: Treasury organizational structure and transformation, Financial risk management (currency, interest rate, commodity), Cash flow forecasting, Cash and Bank relationship management, Treasury technology, International treasury centre, Debt and investment management, Governance, controls and regulation, M&A support, Hedge accounting
  • Experience in leading delivery of Finance change programmes in banking, insurance and demonstrable experience of leading change gained from:
  • Hands-on consulting experience at a Big 4, or top tier consulting firm within Financial Services, or leading change programmes at a Financial Services organisation, or leading a Line function at a Financial Services organisation
  • Experience of designing and implementing Finance Operating Models and Finance Transformation, including location and service model strategy
    • Accounting and regulatory support e.g., IFRS9 orequivalentUS GAAP – supporting clients to understand and address complex change, and leading delivery of programmes / projects
    • Financial Control – including internal and external statutory reporting
    • Financial modelling, budgeting, business planning, forecasting and analysis
    • Finance operating model design and implementation
    • Front to back process, control, and governance
    • Balance sheet management and financial resource optimization
    • Cost reporting and management
    • Finance Cost Reduction and Process Improvement
    • Finance systems architecture and strategy delivery
    • General Ledger, consolidation and EPM projects
    • Regulatory, statutory and management reporting projects including Solvency II

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
  • 2-5 years (post qualification) in Assurance including at least 1 years of Financial Accounting and Advisory experience
