The role requires strategic, operational and team leadership to drive and to deliver Medical Affairs initiatives that enable multiple product launches, while also supporting key established products. Products address medical diagnostic needs in four major care areas, oncology, cardiology, neurology and radiology. The position will also oversee regional PV activities with the support from the global PV core team.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Leadership of the Global Medical Services International team including Medical Affairs and regional Local PV Safety units for the International Region
- Development of strategy and priorities for the MA regional teams with the goal of gathering insights to inform business and product strategies, driving education, building our reputation as a leader of innovation within the field
- Development of best in class Medical Affairs teams with capabilities to manage both established products and new product launches
- Cooperation and partnership with regional R&D, RA, QA, product and regional marketing and commercial GMs, providing strategic and tactical guidance
- Executive level knowledge and experience of Medical Affairs, ABPI code or similar, GCP, and research methodologies.
- Executive presence and presentation and communication abilities
- Regional leadership point of contact and relationship development with key medical opinion leaders and societies, government agencies and advocacy groups; including but not limited to care areas in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Neurology, Oncology and Cardiology specialists,
- Oversight of compliant medical aspects of promotional materials review.
- Oversight of training programs and medical information activities
- Oversight of investigator sponsored and post-marketing studies in collaboration with R&D
- Active member of Global Medical Services Leadership team
-Education, training and Qualifications/Requirements:
- Medically qualified (MD, MBBS, MBChB or equivalent)
- Oncology, cardiology neurology and/or radiology/nuclear medicine subspecialisation
- At least 10 years’ leadership experience at an international pharmaceutical company
- Demonstrated people leadership ability
- Understanding of or experience with promotional review compliance (e.g. ABPI Code) and or EU pharmacovigilance regulations
- Demonstrated executive leadership skills and effective people leadership.
- Executive presence, presentation and communications skills
- Business understanding, knowledge and experience in a matrixed, commercial pharmaceutical environment
- Ability to travel as needed for global, business segment or regional needs (domestic and international)
