In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right, as well as effective in shaping customer and partner solutions involving relational databases. You will enjoy learning and introducing new database technologies to a global team to help them adopt best practices. You will be adept at interacting, communicating, and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our service teams, marketing, the broader Solutions Architect community, as well as representing our data analytics work to executive management.Position may require the ability to travel domestically, 10-20% of the time, as needed

Key job responsibilities* Drive Partner Success: Work across AWS teams to build and migrate partner solutions that leverage AWS relational database offerings* Product Collaboration: Stay closely connected to the AWS database product teams and work closely with partners to launch new database capabilities as services are updated and enhanced.
* Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership on using relational databases for various use cases through external publications, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public presentations at AWS events and industry conferences.* Partner Evangelism: Evangelize partner value propositions internally across AWS and externally with customers, highlighting how they leverage AWS relational database services.
* Partner Enablement: Drive partner solutions, APN program attainment, and continuous enablement through training, certifications, and go-to-market strategies to differentiate and expand their relational database practice.
* Architectural Guidance: Provide the architectural guidance and recommendations necessary to promote successful engagements with software and solutions partners leveraging AWS relational database services worldwide.
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 5+ years of experience in relational database architecture, design, and administration.
- Hands-on expertise in managing and optimizing the performance of enterprise-scale relational databases, such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, or on-premises databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Strong knowledge of database concepts, including data modeling, indexing, query optimization, backup and recovery, and high availability.
- Experience working with software developers and end-user communities to understand their data management requirements and design appropriate relational database solutions.
- Familiarity with software development tools, methodologies, and application integration patterns to effectively collaborate with application teams leveraging relational databases.
- Exposure to cloud-based data analytics and business intelligence use cases, and the ability to recommend optimal relational database architectures to support these workloads.
- Understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks and how relational databases can be leveraged to implement data security, auditing, and compliance controls.
