1. Pre-Sales Engineer role
The pre-sales engineer role will also require the person to provide leadership and guidance to other technical team members, and in the Product Units, to ensure that customer requirements are well understood, and that a complete solution is developed that meets the customer requirements.
2. Fixed Networks Solutions Lead (Offer Management and Pricing/Commercial) role
The pre-sales engineer will work either independently (or as part of a team for large/complex offers) and will have responsibility for developing a Fixed Networks offer that meets the customers requirements.
In this role, the pre-sales engineer will be the central co-ordination point to:
• Understand the customer requirements, and document these
• Convey the requirements to either the product units and/or third parties as required,
• Take inputs from the various product units and 3rd parties, and negotiate technical and commercial aspects of the solution with them,
• Prepare the technical response, and the pricing strategy, and
• Get the offer approved for submission.
3. Support of Sales Operations Process
The role will also involve contribution to the sales operations process including:
• Assistance with proposal strategy (technical and commercial aspects)
• Solution handover to the implementation technical team (for Project Delivery)
• Sales force training in Access solutions (and in-depth Products capabilities)
• Contribution to win/loss reviews
• Prepare End-Of-Life notifications for FN products
• Facilitate the purchase and introduction of new FN purchasable items into the customer’s network
4. Customer Relationship
An aspect of the role is to be the primary point of contact within the Fixed Networks pre-sales organization for our Korean customer/accounts. Included in the scope of this activity is a requirement to maintain a very close working relationship with relevant technical stakeholders within the customer’s organization.
5. Domain & Technology Expertise
The person will be expected to maintain deep domain and technology expertise in the following areas:
• Knowledge of specific FN product sets and roadmaps
• Technologies and their evolution in the FN domain for example (e.g. FWA, WiFi, 25G PON, XGSPON, GPON for fibre, and copper solutions).
• Understanding of software defined access networking principles and architectures.
• Architectural considerations and network evolution knowledge related to fixed access solutions and integration into the core network (e.g IP/MPLS archaicities, protocols, QoS, Security etc.)
• Architecture Design Methodology. Be capable of describing a methodology for developing a network architecture and validating its operational performance. Be prepared to identify specific architectural issues related to the relevant technology domain.
• Network Operations Understanding. Be able to describe a typical carrier operations support structure, operational issues and relate them to the proposed access network architecture.
• The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in telecommunications engineering or similar. However, those with considerable relevant experience will also be considered.
• Relevant experience is considered to have involved designing end-to-end solutions for a carrier or service provider network to meet customer business objectives.
• Additional experience, or understanding of, carrier service & network integration practices and network operations processes and practices, would be beneficial.
• It is expected that the solutions architect will have considerable skills in the wireline technology domains, e.g. Access – PON and POL, DSL, Voice, IP/MPLS & Switching networks) as well as a high level understanding of related technology domains that comprise an end to end fixed access solution. (Note, this role will preference fibre/PON skills).
• Experience in performing a “product management ” or “pre-sales technical and commercial” role is seen as beneficial.
• Experience in preparing technical and basic commercial proposals/offers to meet customer business objectives. This will include pricing, P&L preparation, simple business case analysis skills, in addition to technical skills.
• Local knowledge of Korean enterprise and CSP markets including an understanding of local regulatory issues.
• Teamwork & Communication
• Experience in presenting to senior technical and business managers.
• A demonstrated ability to maintain telecommunications networking knowledge, with specific expertise in a selected domain.
• A knowledge of local regulatory requirements pertaining to telecommunications and their implications for access network design.
• A demonstrated ability to work in large organizations, working across departmental boundaries and with other Nokia functions (Project Management Team, Integration Engineering, etc) to provide an integrated end-to-end solution to the customer’s business objective
