Description
You will manage a team of engineers but make decisions affecting many cross-functional partners. You will remain hands-on with technical details, including source code and data, and are expected to contribute architectural guidance, conduct code reviews, and perform risk assessments. You will be expected to be able to talk about bugs at a very detailed technical level. You will represent your team and technology in cross-functional meetings, partner with many different teams within the Software, Services and AI/ML groups, and work with clients outside of Apple. You will participate in clarifying requirements and goals for cross-functional software projects. You will have the opportunity to plan a multi-year roadmap and lead the design, execution, and post-execution phases of software development. You will be responsible for the development of some of the brightest engineers in the industry!
Minimum Qualifications
  • Understanding of operating systems fundamentals and mobile device resource constraints
  • Capacity to drive complex cross-functional projects, handling partnership management while staying hands-on at a technical level
  • Clarity in decision making, preferring data to intuition
  • Comfort with managing multiple tasks in parallel, in tight schedules, with frequent interruptions
  • Appetite to work in a diverse and global team, facilitate collaboration, and cultivate help between engineers
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering management, project management, or serving as a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI)
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and retain talented engineers
  • Experience with API evolution and working with API clients
