Serve as a trusted advisor on a range of legal and regulatory issues and guide stakeholders on how those legal requirements are internally documented and maintained.
Job responsibilities
- Work closely with the rest of the Legal Department to develop and maintain an inventory of legal obligations for JPMorgan Chase’s businesses in the United States and Canada and respond to questions from the business and corporate functions about the legal obligations.
- Monitor, identify, and document changes in legal and regulatory developments for the United States and Canada, as necessary, including providing written summaries to the Legal Department, the business, and other corporate functions.
- Research and analyze laws, regulations and rules to assess applicability and impact to JPMorgan Chase.
- Promote evergreen efforts of the inventory, focusing on quality assurance, consistency, completeness, and accuracy of legal obligations.
- Develop subject matter expertise on products and services offered by JPMorgan Chase as required.
- Assist with the development of policies, procedures and controls.
- Work closely with technology partners to develop technology solutions to support the team’s work.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Lawyer qualified to practice in the U.S. with a minimum of 2 years experience.
- Background in financial services regulation or supporting another highly regulated business.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely summarize legal and regulatory developments for distribution to a non-legal audience.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with the business, corporate functions, and fellow legal and support professionals.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- A true “self-starter” with the ability to work independently to manage competing priorities and coordinate among a wide range of internal stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Legal experience obtained in private practice or in-house.
- Familiarity with international, federal, and state regulation of financial products and services.
- Experience with regulatory change monitoring.
