Applied Scientistfor the Microsoft Teams Calling, Meeting & Devices group. This person will, fine tuning and prompt engineeringfoundation models. Partner withproduct andinvent anddeliver on theCoPilot and othergenerative AI products.

This role can be based out of any of Microsoft offices in the US, with flexibility for in-office or work from home schedules.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • ORMaster's Degreein Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years using ML tools likePytorchand TensorFlow

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 9+ years of experience in machine learning.
• Practical experience developing applications using prompt engineering, fine tuning, OpenAIor Azure Open AI APIs.
• System development skills, with a long-range system view that leverages development ranging from rapid research prototypes to carefully architected complex systems.

Applied Sciences IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. • Conduct applied science experiments,createandvalidatemetrics, develop ML pipeline and modeling algorithmin the area ofLarge Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, and Machine Learning.
