• Single Point of Contact (SPOC): Serve as the primary liaison for Wireless Planning & Engineering for assigned campus & manufacturing sites.
• Customer Advocacy: Represent customer interests (Plant IT, Site IT) in all Wireless-related changes and standards updates.
• Optimization & Improvement: Review RF designs, enhance and fine-tune Wireless experiences at assigned locations, including RF profile adjustments.
• Coordination: Collaborate with Manufacturing, Campus, and regional LAN Planning teams on new Wireless technologies, standards, and processes.
• Testing & Certification: Test and certify wireless LAN controller (WLC) features based on customer requirements.
• Infrastructure Management: Develop and maintain Wireless infrastructure bills of material (BOM) and update maps & AP placement in Catalyst Center post-upgrades.
• Consultation & Support: Provide expert consultation to LAN Planning and Network Operations teams and support major Wireless changes.
• Technical Support: Offer third-level support for complex operational issues and evaluate wireless devices for assigned facilities.
• Emerging Technologies: Develop skills in Cisco Ultra Reliable Wireless Backhaul (CURWB), LoRaWAN, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or Cyber Security, with 3 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent military service.
- Preferred: Cisco Certifications (CCNP/CCIE Wireless), other technical certifications (CWNA, CWNP, RCDD, etc.).
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Essential Skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Understanding of IEEE network standards (e.g., 802.11, 802.3), experience with Cisco Wireless infrastructure, and knowledge of networking and IP protocols.
- Cisco Expertise: Familiarity with Cisco routing & switching, IOS, NXOS, AireOS, and related authentication protocols (e.g., RADIUS, EAP-TLS, PEAP).
- Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Project Management: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a process-oriented mindset.
- Quality & Efficiency: Commitment to high standards of quality, technical excellence, and efficiency.
Preferred Skills:
- Industry Experience: Experience with wireless technologies in Manufacturing, Warehouses, and auditoriums/lecture halls.
- Advanced Wireless/RF Features: Knowledge of RRM, FRA, DFS, DCA, and TPC.
- Wireless Clients: Understanding of common Wireless clients (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, IoT devices).
- Software Development: Experience with automation and software development (Python, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- SDN Technology: Familiarity with Software Defined Network (SDN) technologies such as Cisco SD-Access and ACI.
- Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile project management tools and concepts (Rally, Jira, Scrum/Kanban).
- Financial Management: Experience managing budgets and financial forecasts.
