ABOUT THE ROLE
The will provide support for new and existing products including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of parts
- Interface with advanced technology and design to articulate equipment and command media requirements through to owning the approval process for fielded suppliers
- Understanding of industry technical design guidelines and solidification modeling, non-destructive tests such as FPI, X-ray and CT Scanning and destructive tests such as metallography and mechanical testing will be used to validate casting processes and product quality
- Defining manufacturing process approval requirements, product testing and design qualification for aerospace applications.
- Reviewing drawing, specification and product substantiation requirements and ensuring that requirements are flowed down to suppliers effectively
- Defining substantiation test requirements and process requirements that need to be satisfied to pass first article inspection
- Specification maintenance, process documentation, approval of suppliers and casting components, conducting maintenance audits to ensure specification and process compliance, support determination of Root Cause and Corrective Action associated with process escapes, and identification of producibility opportunities and cost reduction
- Trains and mentors suppliers in various aspects of materials and process engineering
- Participation on teams with considerable focus in manufacturing and design process
- Interact with Honeywell engineering and manufacturing units and Supply Chain personnel (Sourcing) as well as the supply base
- Reports to: Sr Engineering Manager
US CITIZEN REQUIREMENT Must be a US Citizendue to contractual requirements
MUST HAVE
- 5+ years’ in metal casting industry and casting design experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
WE VALUE
- Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Material Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent
- Experience with Directionally Solidified (DS), Single Crystal (SX) and fine grain process with comprehensive equipment
- Hands-on experience in investment castings, solidification and casting simulation software (Pro-Cast, MagmaSoft, etc)
- Broad understanding of materials, processing and applications
- Understanding of mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components
