CBS - Risk Management - Manager - Dublin

This role reports into our Director of Risk Management. EY operates a Three Lines of Defence model of Risk Management. The successful candidate will support the Director of Risk Management with the management of the Second Line of Defence – Risk Management and Compliance. This individual will support the Director of Risk Management to establish and develop the following functions at EY:

  • A risk management function that facilitates and monitors the implementation of effective risk management practices by our service lines and support functions, assisting risk owners in defining the key risks and reporting adequate risk-related information throughout the firm.
  • Establishing a compliance function to monitor various specific risks to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Risk Management: The successful candidate will provide support to the Director of Risk Management on risk management activities, risk appetite and the reporting and management of risk.
  • Regulatory Compliance: For a range of Risk Management policies, support and manage the application of the firm’s compliance and risk framework (controls, testing, monitoring, and training) using a risk-based approach. As needed, you will support the implementation of any improvements to these policies as needed by the firm’s compliance and risk framework.
  • Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, Director of Risk Management, firm leadership, the Risk Oversight Committee and regulators as required.
  • You will support risk management oversight of our International Standard of Quality Control (ISMQ1) implementation.
  • Identify and lead improvements to the risk framework model. You will play a key supportive role to the Director of Risk Management during the annual review, risk assessment and refresh process, this will include consideration of relevant risks, controls, policies, operating procedures and evaluation of compliance with same.
  • Coordination and leadership of regulatory, internal and client audits.
  • Horizon scanning, knowledge and training.
  • Coordination of knowledge sharing and networking with the Service Line Quality leaders and teams.
  • Other risk management and compliance responsibilities as needed on training, special projects etc as may be required from time to time.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Risk Management and Compliance experience to a manager level: the ability to evaluate risks and their associated controls, devise and execute independent second line monitoring and testing, training and record-keeping.
  • Commercial awareness of the issues facing the business and the ability to deal with problems in a practical and common-sense way. Apply judgment to resolving complex risk and compliance matters.
  • Ability to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels, including with senior partners of the firm.
  • Ability to lead and take responsibility.
  • Strong personal communication skills, capable of dealing with wide a range of people.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills to prioritise key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects.
  • Knowledge of Assurance or other regulated activities, and experience of working with regulators would be an asset.
  • Relevant qualifications in legal, compliance, risk management and/or experience with any of the policy areas would be an asset.

To qualify for the role you must have

This role is expected to have many years of relevant experience obtained within a variety of Risk Management, Compliance or legally related roles.

  • Proven experience of 5+ years working within a Risk Management, Compliance or Legal environment
  • Proven experience in risk management, law, compliance and controls to mitigate business process risk and supporting technology
  • Development and implementation of key performance (or risk) indicators
  • Maintenance of risk management policies, standards and procedures aligned to legal and regulatory landscape
  • Risk management and reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel; PowerPoint and Word
