This role will primarily focus on IA Technology, Operations and Data activities with the overall objective of this role to ensure that Citi IA is the leading IA function in the financial services industry and to manage IA QA’s relationships with key stakeholders.
The role will report to the QA Chief Auditor based in London.
IA maintains a Quality Assurance (QA) function that reports to the Citi Chief Auditor (CA). The QA function provides independent assurance that IA has achieved and is maintaining appropriate standards of internal audit delivery (set against both IA’s own internal standards and the Standards and Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors).
IA Team
- Attract, motivate, develop and lead a highly effective, diverse and trusted team of senior QA team members, supplemented by QA subject matter experts, in providing oversight, timely and high-quality delivery of the QA plan on areas relating to Technology, Operations and Data.
- Lead the delivery of Regulatory Issue Validation (RIV) and Risk Based Assurance across the Technology, Operations and Data.
- Work with IA QA Directors to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of IA QA’s resources, taking into consideration the experience and location of the team, as well as leveraging different audit approaches and best practice.
- Identify and develop talent, providing long-term career opportunities both within IA QA, the wider IA function and across other parts of Citi.
Regulatory Relationship Management
- Manage the pipeline of key regulatory assurance requiring QA review; co-ordinate necessary resources; ensure consistency of QA’s check and challenge of IA’s validation work; identify thematic areas for improvement; assess regulatory validation methodology end-to-end, from receipt of exam letter to final IA validation.
- Work closely with IA Leadership to ensure awareness of regulatory focus areas, ongoing regulatory exams, and independently assess emerging risk areas for IA.
- Support IA teams in regulatory matters, providing credible check and challenge of responses to regulators and presenting directly to regulators as required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support the IA QA Chief Auditor in fostering a strong QA partnership with the IA Leadership Team Chief Auditors and their teams, sharing insights and value-added feedback to audit teams in relation to quality results, best practices, themes, industry and peer insights and trends.
- Create and present local audit committee reporting for QA results, as required.
- Establish and consistently maintain professional working relationship with IA Directors and CAs; maintain IA stakeholder communications through monthly meetings.
Audit Plan
- Oversee the delivery/ assist in other independent QA reviews of assurance work performed by internal auditors including Hot Reviews, Targeted/Thematic Reviews, moderating cold review scorecards and Thematic Reviews. Provide day-to-day pragmatic support and guidance to the auditors on methodology-related matters by leveraging experience and using professional judgement.
- Lead strategic and innovation projects, contributing to the QA continuous improvement program to drive a best-in-class quality assurance function and world-class IA methodology and practices.
- Support the QA Chief Auditor in other assignments and projects as required.
- Promote knowledge sharing and promulgation of best practices across IA and Citigroup.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in a related role
- Preferably with audit experience, subject matter expert in risk management of Technology/Data
- Experience of the US and global regulatory environment, preferably including interaction with the OCC and FRB.
- Executive presence and expert in building and maintaining strong open relationships with executive stakeholders, working as a partner, exerting influence and providing credible challenge in a constructive manner.
- Advanced understanding of culture, ethical conduct, governance, risk management and control frameworks in leading international organizations.
- Ability to quickly comprehend the full risk implications of complex global issues, escalate to the appropriate level and provide advice and on pragmatic commercial solutions.
- Outstanding performer, open minded, resilient, agile, energetic, self-starter, articulate and empathetic whilst being confident to deliver opinions to bring about positive outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills including a track record of identifying and developing world class talent.
- Experienced in leading large, dispersed and diverse professional teams.
- Related certifications (CPA, ACA, CFA, CIA, CISA or similar) preferred
- Demonstrated success in business, functional and people management
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to remain unbiased in a diverse working environment
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
