Director - Data Product Management, External Affairs

you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas:

  • You’ll lead sourcing and synthesis of customer discovery efforts to understand customer needs to drive the long term vision for your product

  • You'll identify, prioritize and mitigate key risks to the business, balancing well managed delivery with speed to market

  • You’ll have an end-to-end understanding of your product and how it fits into the larger ecosystem to be able to anticipate impacts from changes in other parts of the business

  • You’ll work closely with tech leadership and architecture to understand the tradeoffs of technical decisions and how they impact the ultimately customer experience your team will deliver always looking to ensure you’re using the best tool for the job

As the Product Leader for the External Affairs Data Products team, you will:

• Create the long term vision and strategy for data product production and consumption for External Affairs

• Champion the execution of next generation product features utilizing a strong foundation in product management and data platforms

• Inspire and coach a high performing team of data analysts and/or product managers, while partnering closely with Tech resources who support EA and those across the company

• Influence stakeholders and customers within all major lines of business and within partner teams including tech, architecture, design, analytics, and risk management

• Design new user experiences leveraging GenAI and Data Products to allow for EA customers to better gain insights into data and tell compelling stories outlining Capital One’s impact

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 7 years of experience in digital product management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

• MBA or Master’s degree

• 5+ years of experience in Agile product management

• 5+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

• 3+ years working on large scale, AWS cloud data platforms

• 3+ years working with data lake concepts or key-value data stores

• 1+ years working with data analysis to drive insights and make quantifiable prioritization decisions

McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Product Management Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Product ManagementThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
