Finance provides a wide range of services. Our Controlling – Accounting and Tax teams enable business management to make better decisions and satisfy our regulatory requirements. We do this by creating and maintaining globally aligned accounting and tax policies and efficient, rationalized processes.

As a Tax Accountant Senior Associate, you'll be responsible for preparing and filing complex, multi-jurisdictional tax returns on behalf of the firm. Leadership at the firm will look to you to analyze financial information. As part of a high-performing team, you'll work to execute the tax calendar and confirm all federal and state tax returns are completed accurately and on time. Additionally, you'll have the chance to collaborate with taxing authorities to resolve inquiries.

Your key responsibilities include

  • Preparing and filing various types of complex tax returns in accordance with firm policies and procedures
  • Assisting with coordination of annual partner tax questionnaire process and updating the tax module databases
  • Identification and escalation of tax or accounting process issues to mitigate risk
  • Reviewing transactional data of the firm's financial records and ensuring accuracy
  • Conducting research, including analyzing financial information, in response to inquiries by internal and external stakeholders
  • Reconciliation of complex tax accounts
  • Collaborating with external state or local taxing authorities to research issues and prepare responses to mitigate risk for the firm
  • Gaining advanced knowledge of financial applications
  • Providing performance-related feedback and training to more junior team members

Skills and attributes for success
You'll be working to prepare complex tax returns, so ensuring accuracy and identification of issues is vital to mitigating risk on behalf of the firm. You'll be working with EY professionals at all levels, so developing relationships and collaboration on special projects will be essential. You'll leverage your excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities to complete tasks on time and accurately.
To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Experience working on state and local tax returns
  • Proficiency of tax, finance, accounting principles and internal controls
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Strong technical skills to gain advanced knowledge of financial systems
  • Strong excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and professionals at all levels
  • 3-6 plus years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience


Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience working in professional services
  • Experience providing training and development to team members

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $65,400 to $115,100. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $78,500 to $130,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
