As a User Experience Designer working on IBM Storage offerings, you’ll work with our interdisciplinary design teams, product management, and development stakeholders to create user experiences that delight our users. While you work within the design loop, we look for you to have the agility to respond to changing business requirements and users’ needs.The world of data storage is incredibly complex and layered, and it is rich with opportunities for design patents, unique interfaces, and data visualizations. You’ll play a key role in building experiences that help our customers ensure they get the most out of their data, including data storage, resiliency, and AI enablement.
- You’ll be responsible for project engagements, including deliverables such as concepts, wireframe, interactive prototypes, and specifications.
- Craft user experiences alongside key product stakeholders to understand and support product business goals, advocate user-centered design industry best practices, and effectively manage design resources.
- Translate business requirements to end-user needs and create differentiated design solutions.
- Lead teams in design thinking and agile methodologies.
- You’ll be working with a highly motivated and skilled design team passionate about the outcomes they design and deliver to our users.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- At least 6 years of experience in solving complex user problems through user interface design, creating mock-ups and prototypes, as well as documenting interaction patterns for product UIs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design (interaction, user experience or HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent listening, written, verbal communication skills, storytelling, and documentation skills.
- Analytical, creative, and strategic thinker – able to develop innovative solutions to business problems.
- A portfolio of previous work must be presented incorporating UI designs and/or sketches that demonstrate an understanding of wireframing, interaction design, and design best practices.
- Hands-on expertise in use case development, storyboarding, mock-ups, and highly interactive prototypes.
- Expertise in collaborating with user research.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Master’s Degree in Design (interaction, user experience, or HCI) or related field.
- Experience designing for complex systems.
