The Position
Responsibilities:
· Lead and maintain senior-level relationships with key merchants, ensuring the team positions itself as trusted advisors aligned with strategic objectives.
· Support and guide the team in driving new business growth through strategic prospecting, hosting events, and leveraging referral opportunities.
· Oversee and mentor the negotiation of complex commercial terms, contracts, and agreements to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
· Drive team performance in revenue retention, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities, fostering a culture of exceeding sales quotas and KPIs.
· Enable the team to build and maintain strategic merchant relationships, ensuring alignment with merchant goals and successful deployment of PayPal solutions.
· Anticipate future merchant needs by guiding the team to uncover deep insights, fostering executive-level alignment and long-term partnership opportunities.
· Ensure seamless onboarding, integration, and merchant operations while resolving challenges to maintain a positive customer experience.
· Monitor and improve merchant account health, establishing processes to proactively identify risks and implement timely mitigations.
· Support the team in managing churn mitigation, negotiation, and renewal processes to maximize merchant retention and loyalty.
· Foster cross-functional collaboration to align account plans and merchant expectations, ensuring operational excellence and shared outcomes.
· Guide the team in managing pipelines, forecasting revenue, and reporting on sales activities to enable informed, data-driven decisions.
· Advocate for merchant needs within PayPal by driving innovation and ensuring solutions align with evolving market demands.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years of experience in account management, client success, or sales, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role, ideally within payments, technology, or financial services industries, focused on driving merchant growth and retention.
· A comprehensive understanding of e-commerce, merchant services, and payment solutions, with expertise in fintech products and digital platforms as a significant advantage.
· Proven track record of leading teams managing high-value accounts, driving the development of strategic account plans, and consistently achieving team sales quotas through retention, upsell, and cross-sell efforts.
· Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic relationships with senior executives, acting as a trusted advisor to align merchant goals with organizational solutions.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams, ensuring high performance and career growth.
· Deep knowledge of the payments industry, including competitive landscape, market trends, and evolving merchant needs, to guide the team in shaping and refining strategic account initiatives.
· Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and secure mutually beneficial outcomes in complex deal structures.
· Strategic and analytical thinker with a proven ability to identify team growth opportunities, address complex challenges, and drive measurable business results.
· Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) to enable team pipeline management, accurate revenue forecasting, and insightful reporting of sales activities.
· Collaborative and adaptable leadership style, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and ensuring exceptional team outcomes.
