Your Role and Responsibilities
Who you are:
As a Senior Manager- Linux Kernel Development, you will own the responsibility of development of various key kernel featrures of Enterprise Linux on Power and realted user space technologies.
You will apply your deep technical and management expertise in development of Enterprise Linux features to ensure out of box performance is obtained for key workloads on POWER systems. In the process, you will also interact and actively engage with global teams and Linux kernel community.

What you’ll do:
You will be responsible for owning world class missions at Linux Technology Centre. This includes technical, people and project management responsibilities.

  • Functional management ownership of key Linux kernel and bring-up technologies
  • Encourage open source community leadership in technical contributions.
  • Focus on technical supervision, people management, project management and organizational development
  • Collaborate effectively with other peer teams globally
  • Ensure talent/skills development and performance management.

How we’ll help you grow:
As a manager holding functional responsibilities of key kernel feature development you will interact with leadership teams, gain broader knowledge in Systems development, gain community focus

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Excellent people management skills and ability to provide technical guidance to a team of world class Linux kernel engineers
  • 20+ years of relevant experience Systems, Kernel, Operating Systems area.
  • Should have experience in functional ownership for atleast 5+ years.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, with excellent track record of people management, developing talent and retention.
  • Good communication, articulation & presentation skills
  • Experience on handling Client interactions & interfacing
  • Operating Systems, Kernel System management, virtualization & Cloud experience.
  • Managing Opensource and/or Linux projects.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Prior exposure to opensource community work
