What to Expect

This role will facilitate utility approval and code compliance at national, state, and local levels by developing and aligning product and regulatory requirements. The role involves fostering and sustaining collaboration with channel partners, direct stakeholders, and utility authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure seamless and efficient interconnection and permission-to-operate processes, as well as conducting market surveillance to maintain ongoing product compliance.

The position is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role that supports both onsite and offsite outreach to undertake field evaluations, training, audits, and incident triage. You’ll develop whitepapers, processes, and outreach procedures to facilitate market access while identifying improvement opportunities.

The role requires a base understanding of utility requirements and development towards codes and standards comprehension, excellent communication skills, technical writing capabilities, and minimal oversight with strong leadership skills.

What You’ll Do
  • Support utility authorities having jurisdiction with onsite/offsite calibrations, certifications, and audit requirements
  • Communicate code compliance, product listing applicability, and product functionality to internal and external teams to ensure systems can be installed and approved as intended
  • Develop processes and tools that will aid the continuation of national, state, and local jurisdictional collaboration based on code complianceProactively collaborate with engineering, product, deployment, and service teams to ensure residential energy product acceptance based on code compliance
  • Develop and conduct training for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and drive regulatory KPIs to continually improve interconnection roadblocks
  • Create compliance strategies, key project metrics, and dashboards for project status communication to streamline interconnection and sustainment processes
  • Conduct project evaluations, post-mortems, and drive process changes to incorporate learning
  • Work with Policy and Compliance teams to address legislative gaps and opportunities
What You’ll Bring
  • Engineering degree or at least 3 years of related work experience in a design/product deployment role
  • Ability to read and communicate wiring schematics and product work instructions for renewable energy systems
  • Good understanding of the National Electric Code for renewable energy, particularly solar and energy storage related articles
  • Familiarity with interconnection codes such as IEEE 1547-2018 and product listing applications for renewable energy systems
  • Understanding of national building/construction codes
  • Proficiency in project management with life cycles, agile methodologies, and project evaluations
  • Willing to travel (international, national, and state)
