Job Responsibilities
- Conduct proxy research, due diligence and voting in collaboration with the investment teams and other Investment Stewardship Specialists, using a variety of data sources and technologies.
- Implement proxy voting program including management of voting workflow, compliance with controls environment and audits and compliance. Participate in generating reports required by regulators. Report to senior managers on effectiveness of the voting program.
- Conduct communication with client teams on proxy voting related matters, including preparation of voting case-studies and client level voting statistics.
- Work with Proxy Committee, portfolio managers and analysts to communicate Investment Stewardship views regarding proxy votes. Contribute to the development and implementation of J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Proxy Voting Guidelines and Procedures.
- Help identify and target companies for specific investment risks; support in delivering theme-specific engagements with representatives of companies to manage identified risks and deliver outcomes for our clients.
- Conduct stewardship engagements with portfolio companies in collaboration with investment teams on investment and sustainability themes; research and develop the engagement agenda and pipeline; coordinate between different investment teams to ensure alignment on key engagement issues.
- Partner with JPMAM’s client servicing teams to ensure client reporting and client presentations meet expectations, and that client queries on our stewardship activities are responded to promptly and to the satisfaction of the client.
- Build key working relationships across internal constituents from investment teams, business teams and corporate teams
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Minimum undergraduate with a degree in finance, economics, law, accounting or public policy.
- 5+ years of financial services experience
- Proven presentation, communication and influencing skills; strong report writing skills; ability to engage with clients / corporates / industry bodies.
- Ability / willingness to work with key internal groups – portfolio managers, analysts, product specialists, RFP teams, corporate actions teams;
- Ability to work and drive change effectively in a global, high volume, rapid pace, deadline-oriented environment. Function effectively in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to analyze corporate strategy and the drivers of sustainable value creation. Familiarity with financial analysis and fundamental equity and credit research.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to apply sound judgment
- Ability to work effectively with highly confidential data.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Preference for candidates with MBA, CFA.
- Preferably experience in Asset Management, with experience in engaging with senior executives.
- Previous buy-side experience on relevant investment approaches an advantage.
