As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead geotechnical tasks and lead the delivery of geotechnical engineering work for a wide variety of projects, with a focus on water and transportation market projects such as dams, levees, treatment plants, bridges, and related infrastructure projects. These projects will include both conventional design-bid-build projects, as well as design-build projects.
Responsibilities:- Undertake planning and technical delivery of geotechnical deliverables, including designs, design documentation, reports, and specifications.
- Leading projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs, geotechnical analyses, preparation of reports, development of contract documents, and providing support during project construction
- Provide technical input and advice to design teams and clients with respect to Geotechnical Engineering in accordance with relevant industry/client, local, and international standards.
- Confidently review and independently check Geotechnical designs and documentation completed by others.
- Construction site-based activities, including construction observation, meetings in a construction team environment, and assisting contractors in identifying appropriate design solutions when ground conditions vary from what was planned.
- Planning, execution, and overseeing site investigations and geotechnical fieldwork.
- Design of typical geotechnical structures, such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement.
- Responsibility for scoping and planning projects, and support for geotechnical proposals and tenders.
- Maintain and build on existing internal and external client relationships.
- Contribute to projects in accordance with Jacobs systems and processes.
- Mentoring and provide guidance to other technical staff (more inexperienced junior engineers, graduates, etc.) in the use and application of geotechnical principles.
- Working collaboratively with other members of Civil and Ground Engineering sections, in support of their projects.
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
M.S or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
Minimum 15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on water and transportation market or related infrastructure projects
Significant knowledge and experience of geotechnical design principles and methods, and deliverables for infrastructure projects
Experience with design, construction, and inspection of water and transportation market projects
Understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site-specific ground response analyses, and development of design spectra;
Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SETTLE3, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE/W, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC; and
Professional Engineer License
