Job Description

Plastics product design experience is a mandatory

Job Description:

In this role, you have the opportunity to modify, design, develop and maintain MR, MR Coils and realization of a range of products in such a way that future products options and features can be realized with acceptable effects for the earlier products. You are responsible for identifying appropriate technologies for overall system, sub-system and component levels. You will ensure that your design is consistent with the higher-level architecture and requirements.

You are responsible for

  • Understanding “System & Mechanical architecture”, their working principle, definition, System Requirement Specification, and requirement flow down to different subsystem, advising the System Architect regarding choices of what has to be achieved in hardware and what in software (multidisciplinary), and further advising on make-or-buy decisions, working closely with supplier and Business units across Philips products.
  • Define subsystem architecture under considerations of platform or legacy system constraints.
  • Working closely with all the other team members, both R&D team members (Like Systems, Verification, Norm compliance etc..) and cross functional stakeholders (Like Service, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, Clinical etc.) for the projects to timely outcome
  • Ensuring Reliability and Serviceability requirements of the system / subsystem / components for a project
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with country specific regulations.
  • Perform DFMA (Plastic, Sheetmetal and etc.) analysis.
  • Apply GD&T and perform Tolerance stack-up analysis for components/Sub-system.
  • Create FMEA, DFMEA, DFA, DFM and identify relevant product Hazardous, Cause and mitigation plan. Transferring the mitigation plan into CTQ and CTFs.
  • Good in Plastics and Sheet metal stamping design and development.
  • Create Manufacturing drawings and Assembly drawings with exploded views, BOM and Assembly Instruction etc.
  • Maintains CAD files and corresponding documents in Windchill Plink data management system.
  • Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), conduct Reverse Engineering, and facilitate benchmarking of competitor products.
  • Conduct investigations or tests of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new plastics related manufacturing operations, major production activities, equipment, product development, Supply Chain Management, Design for Lean Six Sigma, and process development.
  • Developing project scope, assessing technical & project risk, establish technical requirements for the project.
  • Ensures that products meet external and internal customer quality needs, cost targets, assurance of supply, address component obsolescence and service needs.
  • Holds reviews with internal stakeholders, including local and global team members, to review plans, strategy, and actual metrics for the products he/she is responsible for
  • Determines project risks, defines corrective action and drives the projects to closure.
  • Ensures compliance to corporate and regulatory agencies policies/rules/procedures.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor/master’s in mechanicalorMechatronics or equivalent.
  • 12+ Years of total experience with 8+ years of Plastics product design experience is mandatory
  • Expertise in Plastic material selection, design, and plastic manufacturing process.
  • Good at hand calculation of mechanical design, exposure to mechanical simulations.
  • Create DFMEA and identify relevant product risks.
  • Identifying the suitable material, Creating EBOM, DFM/DFA & DFR(Design for reliability).
  • Demonstrated experience on E2E development of products (Systems or sub-systems)
  • Should be hands-on with Engineering Change Management, Design Transfer processes.
  • Demonstrated experience on system testing, test automation & test fixture design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks and ProE
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience with bringing medical products to the market, preferably experience with development of medical products (IEC 60601) and healthcare regulatory aspects (ISO13485, FDA)
  • Experience in translating customer needs into technical requirements and clearly defining the complete mechatronic needs to project members
  • Good understanding of testing critical to quality and regulatory requirements
  • Mature skills in prioritizing, requirement clarification, and development effort estimation
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience in VAVE & Six sigma projects are good to have.
