The Real Estate Risk Officer is a Real Estate valuation professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. This position requires a keen interest in both Real Estate and Capital Markets.

The successful individual will be accountable for significant results or authoritative advice regarding specific real estate transactions. Assesses risks taken in connection with Real Estate activities which includes extensions of credit that are secured by liens on or interests in Real Estate, direct and indirect private equity and public market Real Estate investments, capital markets, construction lending, servicing, any consumer or commercial loan undertaken when Real Estate security or any Real Estate activity, including disposition and acquisition of property, or an asset sale, or a refinancing is contemplated as a first or second way out.


What you’ll do:

  • This position requires a keen interest in both real estate and capital markets.
  • Receive, post, and coordinate all evaluations requests, primarily from the business. Requests can sometimes include portfolios of several hundred properties.
  • Maintain database integrity, manage evaluations process and workflow, support work with team with day-to-day operations, manage internal and external relationships, which includes business professionals.
  • Ability to perform a valuation review of major real estate asset valued up to $200MM USD and determining its acceptability without needing direct supervision.
  • Dimension possible portfolio assignment risks related to staffing and vendor availability.
  • Communicate assignment requirements and bidding out valuation assessment assignments to vendors. Determining reasonableness of fee quotes.
  • Perform reviews of externally prepared commercial valuation in compliance with Citigroup´s appraisal (valuation) policy documents.
  • Must be committed to precise data input within Citi´s systems.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

What we’ll need from you:

  • Solid previous commercial real estate valuation experience required, predominantly in UK / London.
  • Is credentialed as a chartered valuer by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, or an equivalent.
  • Wider real estate knowledge or experience is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable industry regulations and standards including US requirements set forth in USPAP and FIRREA.
  • The ability to manage time sensitive projects, be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel as well as Discounted Cash Flow software such as Argus or Rockport VAL.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and diplomacy skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
