Reporting to the

What a typical day looks like:

  • Oversees the work of assigned team employees.
  • Addresses minor discipline problems with team members; refers more serious cases to the supervisor.
  • Assists with the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new team members in partnership with the training specialist and team trainer.
  • Collaborates with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegates assignments based on team members skills and experience.
  • Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments.
  • Inspects work performed by team members; ensures it meets specifications of blueprints.
  • Tracks and logs workers time, materials, and other resources used for inventory purposes.
  • Partner with supervisor or production manager to resolve any issues that arise within department.
  • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  • Performs welding on material, as needed.
  • Assists with the layout, positioning, alignment, and securing parts prior to fabrication.
  • Determine required equipment and welding techniques, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 4 years’ experience in various welding processes (MIG, FCAW, SMAW, TIG, etc.)
  • Prior experience in effectively leading a team of employees
  • Certification required: AWS D1.1 FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
  • Thorough understanding of welding processes including Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, equipment maintenance, and safety management
  • Reading comprehension skills with the ability to interpret and follow written directions, blueprints, and drawings including weld symbols.
  • Basic math skills to meet technical specifications and measurements.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding techniques including designs, uses, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in various welding techniques.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to make jigs and setups
  • Overhead crane operation a plus

Pay Range (Applicable to California) $20.70 USD - $28.46 USD Hourly
